Learn the Present Tense of Italian Regular Verbs with a Song by Vasco Rossi

Who is Vasco Rossi? He is an Italian musician with a distinctive "rocking" style. He has been famous since the late 70s and is loved by the older and the newer generations alike.

Albachiara (1979) is one of his most famous songs. It is a good song for learning or reviewing the Italian present tense of regular verbs, including common Italian reflexive verbs, and some useful vocabulary to talk about the different parts of a day, such as alba (dawn) and tramonto (sunset), mattina (morning) and sera (evening).

Listen to the song while reading the text below and sing along! See if you can figure out the meaning of words you don't know.

Download the free, printable PDF lesson and listen again, this time following the text of the song with the blanks and filling in the blanks as you listen. The PDF also includes vocabulary lists, grammar explanations, and practice exercises.

Buon ascolto e buono studio!

Albachiara (1979) di Vasco Rossi & Alan Taylor

Respiri piano per non far rumore
ti addormenti di sera
ti risvegli con il sole
sei chiara come un'alba
sei fresca come l'aria.
Diventi rossa se qualcuno ti guarda
e sei fantastica quando sei assorta
nei tuoi problemi
nei tuoi pensieri.
Ti vesti svogliatamente
non metti mai niente
che possa attirare attenzione
un particolare
solo per farti guardare.
Respiri piano per non far rumore
ti addormenti di sera
ti risvegli con il sole
sei chiara come un'alba
sei fresca come l'aria.
Diventi rossa se qualcuno ti guarda

e sei fantastica
quando sei assorta
nei tuoi problemi
nei tuoi pensieri.
Ti vesti svogliatamente    J
non metti mai niente
che possa attirare attenzione
un particolare
solo per farti guardare.
E con la faccia pulita
cammini per strada mangiando una
mela coi libri di scuola
ti piace studiare
non te ne devi vergognare
E quando guardi con quegli occhi grandi
forse un po' troppo sinceri, sinceri
si vede quello che pensi,
quello che sogni....
Qualche volta fai pensieri strani
con una mano, una mano, ti sfiori,
tu sola dentro la stanza
e tutto il mondo fuori
